This is a drawing based on this piece [link] from the wonderfull Yoni Lee [link] .
The drawing style is based on the style of Mark Schultz [link](comics) . I have a couple of his sketchbooks, and I really like his style. I guess this is one of my problems, I like many styles and I want to explore them all.
When I first started working on this piece it started with some basic rendering of the picture of Yoni. But after a while the metaphysicalist in me came up, so I ended up with a couple of symbols in this drawing/sketch. The most easy one is the pilar next to Yoni. That represents the male. As you can see the pilar is a little cracked, so the male in this picture is "broken".
On the background next to the moon, there are some very beautiful planets, round forms that stand for the female part. The viewer is distracted with the moon and the planets from two things. First the viewer is distracted from Yoni. And secondly, the viewer is distracted from the dark clouds. The dark clouds do not mean a good thing: storm is coming up.
The last symbol is the sea, which stands for the unconsciousness.
So, what does this all mean? Before going any further, I want to state that the explanation of the symbols have nothing to do with Yoni, it is all my personal fantasy.
To me it means we are looking at a siren. The one that takes men and leaves them behind, cracked and broken. This siren is able to distract us with her magic. She is the one who is creating the image of the planets, some female forms to seduce you , to camouflage her real intentions. She is going to eat u alive, look at the dark clouds! You will be taken by her and when ready, you are useless for her and she will leave you like a broken pilar!
Again, this is all my personal interpretation and fantasy. Yoni was only used as a reference from a physical point of view. I never met her, and I do not know what she is like as a person, but I am sure she is a lot nicer then this siren!

I like it a lot! It has so interesting and meaningful subtext put into it, and i think the drawing represents the ideas you wanted to speak off very well.
But franky i didn't recognise that it was cloud at first, i thought it was another shore. Usually clouds are darker at the bottom and lighter at the top - it makes the impression of ease. [link] But nevermind.
